GHK-Cu copper peptides
Research peptides and cosmetic skincare
The best-known copper peptide is GHK-Cu, a small copper-binding peptide that occurs naturally in the body and has been studied for more than 50 years. Meytrix offers GHK-Cu in two forms: as a laboratory research peptide, and soon as a cosmetic copper peptide skincare range.

What is GHK-Cu?
GHK-Cu is the tripeptide glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine bound to a copper ion. It was first identified in human plasma in 1973 by Dr Loren Pickart, and levels of GHK in plasma are reported to decline with age. Because it binds copper tightly, it has been studied as a way the body moves copper to where it is needed in tissue repair.
What has GHK-Cu been studied for?
- Collagen and skin matrix: stimulating collagen and glycosaminoglycan synthesis in skin cell research.
- Wound repair: remodelling of damaged tissue in laboratory and animal models.
- Gene expression: gene-profiling studies report that GHK influences the activity of a large number of human genes linked to repair and protection.
- Cosmetic science: GHK-Cu is used as an ingredient in topical skincare formulations.
GHK-Cu and AHK-Cu
AHK-Cu (alanine-histidine-lysine copper) is a closely related copper tripeptide studied mainly in hair follicle research, and used in scalp care formulations.
Two ways to get copper peptides from Meytrix
1. GHK-Cu research peptide
The GHK-Cu research pen (50mg and 100mg) is supplied for laboratory research use only, and is also part of the GLOW and KLOW stacks.

Frequently asked questions
What is GHK-Cu?
GHK-Cu is the copper complex of the tripeptide glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine. It occurs naturally in human plasma and has been studied in collagen, wound repair and gene expression research.
Are copper peptides and GHK-Cu the same thing?
GHK-Cu is the best-known copper peptide. Others, such as AHK-Cu, are related copper tripeptides with slightly different amino acids.
What is the difference between GHK-Cu and AHK-Cu?
Both are copper tripeptides. GHK-Cu is studied mainly in skin and tissue repair research, while AHK-Cu is studied mainly in hair follicle research.
Does Meytrix sell GHK-Cu in South Africa?
Yes. Meytrix supplies GHK-Cu research pens from Cape Town for laboratory research use, and is launching a cosmetic copper peptide skincare range.
When is the Meytrix copper peptide skincare range launching?
The range is coming soon. Subscribe on the site to be told first when it launches.
Meytrix research peptides, including the GHK-Cu pen, are supplied for laboratory research use only and are not for human consumption. The copper peptide skincare range is a cosmetic range for topical use.
